Ericsson and Ascom intensify cooperation for cordless in-house communications

Ericsson and Ascom announced today that Ericsson will divest its North American PWT DCT1900 in-house add-on cordless system to Ascom.

With this agreement, Ericsson and Ascom strengthen their cooperation in providing state-of-the-art cordless communication solutions to the market. Ascom will get an interesting foothold on the fast moving US market. Ericsson's current installed customer base in North America will benefit from Ascom's resurgence of development and sales of the PWT DCT1900 products.

``The agreement with Ascom is a win/win for our customers and our companies. Together, we offer both our installed base customers and our new customers an excellent product portfolio and a clear migration path towards the future,'' said Lars E Svensson, Vice President and General Manager, Ericsson Business Unit Enterprise Systems.

``We will get access to the North American cordless market, which will result in a huge potential in our three market segments - Healthcare, Industrial, and Personal Security,'' says Mats Fridlund, President and CEO, Ascom Tateco AB and Head of Ascom Wireless Solutions.``

Ascom will get an opportunity to further develop their cordless solutions and provide a jump-start into the e-business by using Ericsson's DECT Voice technology in their TCP/IP-based Alarm and Messaging platform.

Ascom and Ericsson cooperate on the market for in-house cordless communication solutions designed for various enterprises and organizations. The combined product portfolio of Ericsson and Ascom addresses the total market needs for cordless communication solutions.
